State Brief Introduction

The project is focusing on devising an appropriate multi-stakeholder strategy, which would help in ensuring the sustainability of the drinking water source for the state in light of climate change. Following interventions is being undertaken:


Demonstration project on building Source Sustainability through Spring Rejuvenation:  The VRA study has raned Pauri Garhwal and Dehradun as most vulnerable to water resources vulnerability because of low seasonal per capita water availability, and high crop water stress in winter.  UNDP thus is implementing a demonstration project on rejuvenation of three springs in vilage Latau under Kalsi Block of district Dehradun. The project will undertake geo-hydrological studies for indentifying water recharge zones for the dried springs and plan effective soil, water conservation measures for improving the water availability in the springs. The project will benefit 16 families of village Latau and will be implemented over a period of 6 months with an total outlay of Rs. 6,40,000.

Demonstration Project on Building Water Security through Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting: A Roof-top house hold level  Rainwater harvesting demonstration project is being implemented in village Jendo under Kalsi Block of Dehradun district. The project will help improving water availability for 31 households, and will be implemented over a period of six months.
